Looking for a trigger guard plate screw for a Marlin 336. Tried ebay & Amazon, no luck. Any sources out there? Help!

Any word if Ruger is planning to investment cast their marlin receivers? I’m curious to know how the new Marlin levers will be built.

Owning a Ruger pistol, have full confidence in Ruger to resurrect Marlin after Remington nearly destroyed the brand!! My hunting heyday of Squirrel/Ruffed Grouse was with a Marlin Glenfield 60 22LR!! That was an inexpensive rifle that could pick fleas off barbed wire!! Always went with the original iron sights depending on my stalking technique which led me to calling off the squirrel hunts. Came 18 inches from petting a Whitetail deer!! Would have done with just a slight breeze to carry off my scent!! So Marlin is in my guts!! Whatever Ruger does with Marlin is going to be OK!!

I’m a little anxious to see what they roll out with also. I’ll probably give them time to work out any bugs after they release their first production runs. I’m in the market for something rim fire in a bolt gun to continue enjoying our new tax stamp but we love some Leverguns & who wouldn’t. Thanks for sharing Sir. Hope you & the Misses are doing well.

I would be very Leary of a Marlin made by Ruger!! Remington is superior to Ruger in every way!! So many JM fans went nuts on Remington when they first assumed Marlin Company. People forgot how wonderful Remington rifles are. Within 6 years Remington produced the best assortment of Marlin lever guns ever made!!

Got a couple old jm’s a couple remlins. Will admit that the Remlins shoot wonderful. Rugar will do a good job.

Here in the Uk theres next to no Marlins available. Great to hear that Ruger have taken over making them. Ruger have always made good guns so its got to be a good thing for the future. We are not allowed cartridge pistols with short or standard length barrels so pistol calibre lever action rifles are very popular especially the 1894 and 1895 models. Futures looking bright.!

I sure hope Ruger continues the Cowboy Models Marlin made. The 94’s in pistol calibers, the 336 in 30-30, 35, and maybe additional calibers, and the 1895 in 45-70 all with octagon barrels.

I hope and pray they get rid of that stupid safety. I won’t buy a lever gun with a safety. A half cock hammer safety is the only safety that belongs on a lever action rifle.

Ruger has been at the forefront of manufacturing technology since inception. I too have been in manufacturing for many decades. Ruger is probably pulling their hair out dealing with the mess of antiquated machinery, tooling and plans that they acquired. Too soon out of the oven and it will all be ruined. I believe in Ruger and I patiently await a faithful classic revival and a new spin on a classic.

There is still a big market for lever guns out there. Marlin has been one of the biggest players in that game for quite sometime, and I would argue the most important player in that game. You have the higher end Winchester, Uberti, and the lower end Rossi. Henry to me are great rifles, but they are outliers. Their rifles are more focused on recreational shooting than anything else. Marlin has always been reliable middle ground of quality, craftsmanship, and price, which is why they are so important in the lever action game. Of course you have other large manufactures such as Browning and Mossberg, through their hat in the ring from time to time with a lever action rifle. I would have hate to see Marlin just fall from the face of the earth. To be honest, I rather have seen Winchester go than Marlin. Marlin is just to important, because they fill a particular niche in the market better than anyone else. So Im glad Ruger picked them up and rather than trying to assume what they will do with Marlin, or get my hopes up about what Id like to see them do. Im just going to wait and see what they do and I am anxiously waiting.
