My Summit is on order. Have you tried the Hornady loads? Just curious if they are more accurate. Thanks!

That is by far one of the prettiest rifles I have ever seen.

  6. Ann Otten on February 23, 2023 at 2:33 am

Well the “rim fire shortage no longer exists” comment didn’t age well — less than one year after this video there is no ammo on the shelves

  7. Nolan Allen on February 23, 2023 at 2:34 am

So I have a 17 can I shoot any 17 caliber bullet out of it

The down fall of the 17 mach 2 is they charge you the same price per box as the 17hmr total joke.

  12. Tyler Snyder on February 23, 2023 at 2:47 am

Just imagine a .32 short necked down to .17 , that would be a pretty cool high velocity round for pocket revolvers.

  13. Jig Ward on February 23, 2023 at 2:48 am

Swap your mounts out and your groups will certainly tighten up I could see you adjust very slightly for the scope

Love your vids keep them coming 👍

  16. richard lucas on February 23, 2023 at 2:50 am

Dead in the water not enough following sold mine years ago not enough support for another 17

  17. John Clifford on February 23, 2023 at 2:51 am

Wonder if you’d have less horizontal stringing if you had a level on the scope… could you be tilting the rifle slightly? This exacerbates stringing as the scope is higher from the centerline of the bore.

I look at the HM2 as the perfect late season squirrel cartridge, when the leaves are down and you (and the squirrels) can see further. I have a Lilja HM2 barrel for my CZ 455 American but am going to convert my Winchester/Miroku 52B to .17 HM2.

  21. Aussieairrifleshooter on February 23, 2023 at 2:53 am

That’s the problem with a Custom rifle, shooting factory ammo
It will never realise it’s full potential.

  22. Jett Blast on February 23, 2023 at 2:53 am

I love the .17 HMR and .22 LR, would love to get my hands on a WSM 17, I just learned from "Dave-22 Plinkester" that the MACH 17 uses the beloved CCI Stingers case which I love! But is this cartridge still in production? Would it be worth the investment? I have heard the per round cost is between 22 LR and 17 HMR…

  23. BowsBullets&Bucks on February 23, 2023 at 2:55 am

    That rifle is gorgeous

  24. Captain America on February 23, 2023 at 2:59 am

I am currently waiting on a suitable receiver for my second 10/22 17Mach2 rifle. Can’t bring myself to dismember a fine shooting .22lr. So far, the first one has worked flawlessly with just the heavier bolt charging handle. I also have two Savage bolt action rifles in Mach2; a standard and a heavy barrel waiting to be sighted in. I’m glad I bought a gob of ammo before the crunch. I think they will be great for punching ground squirrels and paper.

  25. Hell_March on February 23, 2023 at 3:00 am

the mach 2 would be great if the price on ammo were to come down. Yes they are cheaper than the hmr but they arent cheaper than 22 mag. If theyt can bring down the price to about 8 cents a round or heck even bring down to 9 or 10 cents. it would be able to compete with the hmr more directly and even 22 lr

  26. bosstube on February 23, 2023 at 3:01 am

I am currently waiting on a barrel for my 10/22 17 hm2 conversion I am excited will add results once I’ve got it all together

  27. Robert Birkinshaw on February 23, 2023 at 3:02 am

It would be interesting to measure the actual fps velocity of the various rimfire cartridges. Published fps are not always all that accurate.

  28. Mike Hog A Nator on February 23, 2023 at 3:03 am

I’ve seen plenty of 17hmr at my local Academy Sports & Outdoors but I’ve never heard of the 17 Mach 2. I’ll have to take a look. I love using my Remington Fieldmaster Pump 22 open sights.

  29. Ayden Harris on February 23, 2023 at 3:05 am

    Cool gun

  30. Mark Chester on February 23, 2023 at 3:05 am

“Hopefully I can do my job” he says. Poor love! The rifle’s in a stand. Looking through the scope and pulling the trigger must be so taxing.

  31. Alex Blinoff on February 23, 2023 at 3:06 am

Разрешите вопрос? На сколько хватает ресурс ствола, выстрелов в данном калибре?

  32. Silas McGee on February 23, 2023 at 3:12 am

lol just now watching this. I got a Savage MKII in .17HM2 for graduation in 2015. i absolutely love it for small game! my longest shot on a rabbit was 218 yards, and a squirrel at 175ish, with a 4-12×50 scope. its a shame they arent as popular, but luckily some places in north alabama are beginning to keep ammo in stock!

  33. Big Kelly G on February 23, 2023 at 3:13 am

I have the Savage version. Use it for Chiselers in Wyoming. Lots of fun as long as it’s not windy.

  34. Halfdollar 86 on February 23, 2023 at 3:14 am

I always thought that if the 17 Mach 2 was released before the 17 HMR that it would of been more popular then 17 HMR.

  35. southtexas specials on February 23, 2023 at 3:14 am

Man it’s so nice man. First time seeing it. How is this cartridge doing today??

  36. Dan Lee-Andel on February 23, 2023 at 3:16 am

my buddy and I got into .17 back in 2005. he has semi auto remington in .17 HMR and I have the savage in MACH 2 , we did some squirrel hunting with success!

  40. Fire Storm on February 23, 2023 at 3:20 am

17 mach2 is a headshot only round for food animals .
    It fragments severely.

  41. bosstube on February 23, 2023 at 3:20 am

Also last dove season I busted one at 220 yards (rangefindered) with my savage A17

  42. Lee on February 23, 2023 at 3:20 am

    Dont like the round

  43. Peter Resetz on February 23, 2023 at 3:21 am

    @ Tyler Snyder,
I have on my cartridge collection a custom wildcat 17 DKT which the parent cartridge case is a 32 ACP.

As for any bottle neck cartridge in a revolver is going to be problematic because upon firing the cartridge will set back do to case stretching and the cartridge case shoulder will hold it back against the revolver’s back plate restricting the cylinder from rotating. In affect locking up the revolver. This has been tried in the past and always had that problem. The 257 Winchester is a prime example which is a 357 Magnum necked down for a .257/25 caliber bullet.

  44. sportclay1 on February 23, 2023 at 3:22 am

One of the problems with the mach 2 shortly after it came out there was production problems with the ammo. The cases would crack/split at the neck. Open new box of Hornady or CCI and sometimes as many as 20 cases / box had split necks. Send back and they sent replacements only to find more. There was an annealing problem with these little bottle neck cases. Ammo I have bought in the last couple of years has been trouble free. There is still some of the old stuff around. If it is old stock Hornady check the boxes carefully for split necks. The split is very fine and will certainly show up when you shoot them.
