What's next for concealed carry laws in NYC?

What's next for concealed carry laws in NYC?

With the Supreme Court striking down the state law that made it more difficult for people to carry weapons in public, what does that mean for crowded areas in the city? CBS2’s Political Reporter Marcia Kramer has the exclusive story.

Other than Government buildings, schools and some of the other obvious places, I think people will ignore some of the signs that would be posted in public places such as, movie theaters, bars, libraries and super markets from carrying a concealed gun. Mass shooing’s occur in large gatherings and not so much on the streets in my opinion, so where’s the protection if you can’t walk in with a concealed weapon in large gatherings? NY needs to get over themselves and move on with the rest of the country and not drag their feet just to "prepare" for the new supreme law.

What about rifle license training and shotgun license

  3. Robert Stimpson on September 30, 2022 at 8:30 pm

This "exclusive report" is a fraud by CBS (A/K/A 2/3’S B.S.). Richard Aborn is a paid anti-gun abolitionist and was a senior member of the Brady anti-gun organization. The NYPD Commissioner you quoted was a former reporter and editor from the New York Daily News, one of the most liberal progressive newspapers in America. If he had said ANYTHING else in that interview, ANYTHING, he would have been fired on the spot.
THIS WAS NOTHING BUT A PAID POLITICAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BY THE CBS NETWORK, NOT JOURNALISM BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION. TELL THE TRUTH!!!!

  4. M D on September 30, 2022 at 8:30 pm

They’ve been careful about who they give permits to, like judges, celebrities, rich people, friends and family. Regular people, poor people,…no.

  5. Branden's Outdoor Channel (Official - Since 2013) on September 30, 2022 at 8:32 pm

    More guns = less crime

Lawful ccw’s are nothing to fear. It’s the illegal guns that are a threat.

It’s everyone’s right to self-defense outside the home.

  6. A bad-enough dude ._. on September 30, 2022 at 8:32 pm

Ironic that NYC was denying all permits saying it was unlawful, but this whole time it was the city that was acting unlawfully.

  7. Hellcat Redeye -G on September 30, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Everybody carries down here in Atlanta gun violence didn’t go up now after we pass Constitutional carry it’s about the same don’t forget the second amendment gives you that right to carry shouldn’t have to have permission

  8. Tales From The Hood TV on September 30, 2022 at 8:35 pm

So i still can’t carry a gun around? Why is everyone crying New York is one of the hardest places to get a license to carry so what’s the problem

  9. Bdpjev on September 30, 2022 at 8:37 pm

20,000 legal guns, criminals are not trying to apply for a conceal carry permit. Democrats need to stop putting law abiding citizens and criminals in the same conversation

  10. Kwame Green on September 30, 2022 at 8:37 pm

All those place you can’t carry WHITE FOLKS have Massacred people. Churches Schools movie Theaters. Funny people point fingers at black folks. when it them

  11. Tay3257 on September 30, 2022 at 8:37 pm

The city should be concerned about the criminals who are carrying it, not law abiding individuals.

  12. Kai Schmidt on September 30, 2022 at 8:38 pm

We’re probably a few years away, but it’ll be nice when we finally read some stories from NYC about criminals picking the wrong victim and leaving in a body bag.

  13. MikeRivNY on September 30, 2022 at 8:39 pm

There are more than 20,000 illegal guns in criminals hands!!!

  14. Michael 732 on September 30, 2022 at 8:40 pm

They should be MORE concerned about the tens of thousands of criminals that carry guns ILLEGALY and not the people who carry a gun to defend themselves. Look at the crime rate in these cities that have chosen to "defund" the police. Yesterday a 29 year old woman was walking her baby in a stroller, a man walked up to her, pulled out an ILLEGAL gun and shot her in the head.

  15. Mactastic on September 30, 2022 at 8:41 pm

Doesn’t that mean thousands of people conceal handguns illegally in NYC?

  16. Michael Glenn on September 30, 2022 at 8:41 pm

a year or two??? no,..thats silly. The state, and city will have to get right with the law pretty quickly.

  17. Daryl liggins on September 30, 2022 at 8:42 pm

To sum this up. New York will take as much time as they can get away with to figure out how to limit the rights of people to be able to protect themselves. They will use sensitive places to minimize as many places as possible for those fortunate enough to obtain a permit to be able to carry. Those sensitive places where you will most likely encounter a mass shooter such as the subway, school, church, grocery store you will certainly be left defenseless.

  18. Michael Glenn on September 30, 2022 at 8:45 pm

    1700 is 0.02125% of 8000000 nyc residents. 0.02 percent.

  19. Michael Glenn on September 30, 2022 at 8:47 pm

Imagine if only 0.02 percent of journalist were “permitted” to enjoy freedom of the press.

  20. ANT6184 on September 30, 2022 at 8:48 pm

Years to comply? That would equate to criminal contempt and millions of peoples constitutional rights being violated

  21. MAN_MAN on September 30, 2022 at 8:48 pm

sensitive places means: " GUN FREE ZONES"

  22. Eva Davis on September 30, 2022 at 8:49 pm

  24. Donald Davis on September 30, 2022 at 8:51 pm

1 year is excessive time get that lawsuit going. There will be at least one or two more lawsuit if the fees are extensive which if they make requirements that cause you to spend too much money they will be. Just get that lawsuit going so it can get through the courts.

  25. Ed in Florida on September 30, 2022 at 8:52 pm

Outrageous that NY requires a permit for you to have a gun in your home! Thank G-d I live in the Free State of Florida.

  26. sean berthiaume on September 30, 2022 at 8:52 pm

And fckn THUGS carry them EVERYWHERE!

  27. ANT6184 on September 30, 2022 at 8:53 pm

Imo NY should stop their immediate childlike attempts at infringement and instead approach this fairly by following the supreme courts intent and rule of law by immediately complying. If modifications are needed then they can later react accordingly. Reacting on fear or opinion at this stage doesnt serve justice or the law abiding citizens who only want safety and to exercise their rights unhindered by radical partisan politics

  28. John Macri on September 30, 2022 at 8:53 pm

The Supreme Court has spoken it’s time for NY to listen.

  29. Angelo Bonsignore on September 30, 2022 at 8:54 pm

Two years..??? Expect law suits if so

  30. Bilbosaur on September 30, 2022 at 8:54 pm

This is why I dont live in NY and will never go there.

  31. Maad ah Road on September 30, 2022 at 8:56 pm

Ask them how many people died and they couldn’t defend themselves / how many people defended themselves an went down for murder because of nyc law. The 1,700 that has a nyc gun permit 95% of them is an officer family or friend. The system is a joke

  32. flat cube on September 30, 2022 at 8:56 pm

"The number of lawful gun holders down" that’s not the number that matters to society. They need to talk about the effects of this on CRIMINALS

  33. frankricci88 on September 30, 2022 at 8:58 pm

Clearly 100% anti-2nd amendment coverage by CBS News… How about having the opposing point of view from a firearms group? No, that would be too fair and balanced

  34. *GULLYGOD* on September 30, 2022 at 9:00 pm

It’s criminals taken over what’s wrong with good citizens having guns

  35. EL EVO on September 30, 2022 at 9:00 pm

Where ever they limit conceal carry, these places are subject to more crime. They are simply abetting Criminals in their acts in these locations. Imagine if an active shooter is on the train and there is a concealed carrier that can stop the active shooter? NYC doesnt want that…

Imagine if a criminal brings a gun to a Movie Theater and shoots it up, but there is a conceals carrier that can stop him? Well NYC Doesnt want that. The prefer the outcome of the Criminal emptying out his gun or rifle before the police get there and have 15 dead Citizens, then one shot accidently or caught in the crossfire.

Most people Will take a training when they get their gun pistol. Without be forced to on their own. How Many times have cop shot cops and innocent bystanders in our NYPD history, Well plenty of times and they aren’t prohibiting police from shooting in such areas?

They are Tyrants of the Constitution. They are Authoritarian beasts that love to have all the control and could care less about your defending yourself against a Mentally ill person looking to stab you to death on the train, bus or even times square.

It is unconstitutional for NYC Mayor or the Governor of NYS to tell us where and when we can defend ourselves. For as long as a crime can be committed, there is no Sensitive place in NYC that will be free of crime, if anything, there will be more crime and all those in such areas are subject to such crimes.

We must sue NYC and the Governor for making such unconstitutional illegal City and State laws.

Cops are never there when you need them, because the criminal picks the time and place to commit their crimes.

Don’t be fooled, 911 is false sense of help. when you call then it is usually after the act has been committed against you or a family member. They show up to take a report. Wow that sure is Helpful 😐😣

#DeptOfJustice Do your job and arrest Mayor Adams and Kathy Hochul, They are laughing in the face of the ruling and making illegal laws on when and where someone can defend themselves. If all the places I travel to in NYC are not allowing me to carry, then how can I defend myself?

  36. The Shadow on September 30, 2022 at 9:02 pm

NYC, the perfect fish bowl for gun ownership dilemma, presenting a conundrum . Because the NYPD is corrupt, unreliable, and unprofessional…basically an occupation army…, they’re are the last people we want to be solely armed.Personally, I wouldn’t step foot anywhere near NYC. That said, those that would or have to need to be able to protect themselves without unnecessary and apparently illegal interference by city officials and police.

  39. joyride on September 30, 2022 at 9:07 pm

Concealed carry should be throughout the United States New York City is a big money maker charging $350.88 for fingerprints robbing senior citizens which wants to protect themselves every three years we have to come up with this money including a background check to buy bullets after going to fire ranges more money to be spent people are disgusted in New York City and we want our rights has the supreme Court laid out

  40. Michael Glenn on September 30, 2022 at 9:08 pm

1700 in a city of millions is not careful,..its capricious and arbitrary. The funny thing is, you are journalists. You are supposed to ask why? why so few?

  41. DustBat on September 30, 2022 at 9:10 pm

The reaction of these leaders is so stupid and false.People who apply are NOT your problem. I guess it is rough to have to issue permits to other than your pals. Where they want to ban is where you need it the most.

  42. Richard Todorov on September 30, 2022 at 9:10 pm

NYPD has been sued numerous times for discriminating against premise residence gun permits let alone carry licenses. They’re not careful, they’re anti constitution.

  43. Jason Hook on September 30, 2022 at 9:11 pm

New York is out of control. We need more law abiding citizens with ccw .

  44. Charlie Hammer on September 30, 2022 at 9:13 pm

A right delayed is a right denied. Meanwhile criminals run rampant shooting innocent people with complete freedom…
