The thing that continues to impress me about the Sig Sauer ammo is how consistent the velocities are from round to round. I really like the 10mm V-Crowns.

  2. Jay M on May 25, 2023 at 4:31 am

I carry these in my G23

  3. Gary Wood on May 25, 2023 at 4:33 am

I was hoping you had a Glock 23, I have a Lone Wolf 357 sig barrel for gen 4 G23 I was going to send you so you could do 357 Sig tests.

  4. Dennis The Menace on May 25, 2023 at 4:34 am

I love the V-Crown bullet. It’s unfortunate that Sig watered down this particular load but, for whatever reason, the 165 grain weight bullets come in two persuasions. There’s a low recoil load that mimics a 180 grain β€œFBI” load’s velocity of 980 FPS and a full power variation of 1150 FPS. That bullet would have been dynamite at 1150.
I used to keep my 10mm Glock loaded with their 180’s but have since switched to Underwood’s 100 grain Extreme Defender. 1800 FPS is hard to ignore.

I prefer the gold dot or win "T" series, but those look pretty impressive. I need to see a lot more data on them to be convinced to carry them. Denim test, Paul Herrel meat test, etc…

Thanks for sharing your videos and keep them coming please.

Suppressor ammo!!! πŸ™‚ Another good video. I’m really torn between Glock 9’s and .40’s I own both.

  8. Sylvia Candler on May 25, 2023 at 4:36 am

WOW! Thank you for your great videos! I will kick in a few bucks!

  9. Michael Miller on May 25, 2023 at 4:37 am

Great test got some of these the other day for my .40 after the great results in the 9mm and 380. About to go load them up in my .40 carry.

Do you plan on doing any testing with a denim layer?

  12. Furman Mackey on May 25, 2023 at 4:43 am

My current EDC/CCW is in .40S&W. Of course, my two all-time favorite CCW handgun rounds are .44Spl and .45ACP. Now if someone would manufacture a relatively lightweight, five-shot, 3in revolver in stainless steel and chambered it in 45 Colt’s….I would gleefully buy one and carry it daily along with two speed loaders (please note that I never depend on just one magazine for a pistol or just the single cylinder of rounds in any revolver no matter what caliber or action type is my choice to carry on any given day)….I’m looking at you Charter Arms. And never forget ladies and germs: Big, relatively slow projectiles make bigger holes down range….Even when they don’t expand as advertised or as much as other, lesser, calibers that don’t start with a four. Excellent video on the very versatile .40S&W!

  13. Jacob S. on May 25, 2023 at 4:44 am

would it be possible to see if it is possible to catch 556, 223, 308, & 30-06 using a setup of: (1) impact on 1/2" sheet plywood, (2) 2" styrofoam, (3) ballistics gell to see what the results are?? or a similar setup with whatever you may have??

  14. Wayartio on May 25, 2023 at 4:44 am

The V-Crown is an amazsing round. I still carry HST but if V Crown is available thats become my standard . I save the HST and use them. Sig makes GREAT loadings!

  15. GK on May 25, 2023 at 4:44 am

I usually carry this round in my M&P 2.0 Compact 4". It’s readily available in the Black & White 50 Round LE boxes locally at a reasonable price (I like carry ammo I can afford to shoot on occasion).

I don’t really believe in a magic bullet. As long as it’s reliable, accurate, penetrates to a reasonable distance and expands I’ll use it. I don’t really get into 14" vs 16"or 0.60" vs 0.65".

  16. Robert Seafield on May 25, 2023 at 4:47 am

Great info. Keep up the good work.

I liked both test on the GLOCK 27 & the GLOCK 22 !! I got sum Sig V crown ordered from Sportsmans Guide !! πŸ™‚

  19. Jeremiah on May 25, 2023 at 4:49 am

I like the 124gr v crown for 9mm of course I like that the projectile is available to reload your own it might just be my carry round for my glock 48 mos but it’s hard to beat federal 124gr hst for me that’s my first choice always unless I can’t find it or can’t afford it which is a thing now adays…I would like to see you test with barriers please like jeans for maybe even.hard barriers like wood or sheet metal like car doors

  20. Range Time on May 25, 2023 at 4:51 am

Very good results. Please try the 40 S&W 165 Winchester 165 Defender’s. I get 1140 fps out of a 4.25" barrel with the Winchesters

  21. Floyd black on May 25, 2023 at 4:52 am

good ammo cheap pretentious guns bad for the video

  22. Drknow1123 on May 25, 2023 at 4:53 am

I wonder if them there 9mm ones do the same damage or are they weaker

  23. Jaime Aaron Sanchez Cavazos on May 25, 2023 at 4:54 am

So now I know I can dig a hole 6 six deep with 40 S&W! LOOL

  24. Michael Miller on May 25, 2023 at 4:55 am

Great video. Be awesome to make a video of these sig vcrown verses the federal punch. What do yah think??? Punch verses the crown

  25. Doubletap Chap on May 25, 2023 at 4:56 am

Almost as pretty as an hst

  26. The Truth on May 25, 2023 at 4:56 am

That’s a great expansion for so-so velocity. I gots to have me some of these v-crowns. .40 is a very capable SD caliber. Right behind .357 mag 125 JHP, rated as second best one shot stopper. Great video and a great hat, sir! Have a nice day.

  27. RedneckJohnWick on May 25, 2023 at 4:57 am

    Neutered 40sw..
This is why people think 9mm is just as good.
I run the critical defense. Them things get 1140-1150 out of my 3.3 inch xd-s. They laugh at denim and expand a little bit bigger than a nickel.
I can’t stand these ammo mfgs that do this.. under 1000fps for a full size 40 is unacceptable..

  28. R4-Mississippi Thunder on May 25, 2023 at 4:57 am

I really enjoy 40 S&W. Everyone kinda lost interest in it for 10mm. Great testing. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

  29. Scarif Rouge One on May 25, 2023 at 4:57 am

Yo Tools! Great test and results. Disruption and expansion is exceptional. Best I ever seen the V-Crown is as advertised. Thanks again!

  38. KEVIN Richardson on May 25, 2023 at 5:07 am

Get a 357sig and never worry about if your round will upset and mushroom and expand or not…shit gets ugly up over 1300+ fps & 500 ft/lbs when metal strikes flesh and bones

    🀘😎🀘

  40. Joey Phillips on May 25, 2023 at 5:08 am

  43. Johnny V. on May 25, 2023 at 5:12 am

Sig V-Crown is my favorite for dependable mushrooms and deep penetration, based solely on what I’ve seen from fine channels like yours! No blah blah B.S., just honest, straight – forward testing and useful info. Thank you, Sir!

  44. Harold Hatcher on May 25, 2023 at 5:17 am

I am in the expansion camp over penetration. V Crown has fantastic expansion. I would use them with confidence.
Thank You for another great video Tools

  48. The Patriot's Rage on May 25, 2023 at 5:26 am

Nice one T&T! I have also tested the 165gr and 180gr .40 V-Crown and I was unimpressed. Expansion is good, but for a 165gr .40 JHP; they should be doing 1150fps from a 4" barrel. Very underpowered and same goes for the 180gr loading. In fact ALL of the V-Crown Sig loads are underpowered IMHO.

  49. Pepe P. on May 25, 2023 at 5:27 am

Have you seen any Hornady American gunner? The American gunner is the cheapest high end hollow point in my area. It would be interesting to see how they stack up to HST, V-Crown, gold dots and so on for the price.
And I think I might get those ear buds for work.

  50. Q V on May 25, 2023 at 5:30 am

It’s worth keeping in mind that the penetration would be a couple inches less in actual FBI calibrated organic gel. Certainly less than the recommended 12". Trade off of all the expansion.
